Possible Reasons Why Orbi Cannot Walk Properly
1.Wipe off excess saltwater from the fuel cell and clean any oxidation on the magnesium sheet and connectors.
2.Check if the tubes, connection modules, and fuel cell are assembled correctly. (Refer to the manual P13-15)
3.Inspect the fuel cell to ensure the internal non-woven fabric is moist.
4.If the magnesium sheet is corroded as shown in the image, please replace it.
5.Check if the legs are assembled correctly. (Refer to the manual P17-18)
6.Ensure the gearbox is properly assembled. (Refer to the manual P4-7)
7.If the 8cm tube has been cut to less than 6cm, use the A10 connector to extend it back to 8cm.

What should I do if the piston gets stuck because I forgot to apply oil during assembly?
-
First, push the piston all the way to the bottom.
-
Then, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry it out.

What is the Pro’sKit GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut?
The GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut is a battery-free science toy that generates electricity from salt water. Once assembled, the astronaut walks with a waddling motion. Assembly and play introduce gear mechanisms and redox reactions, making it suitable for users who want to understand scientific concepts through hands-on activity.
-
Does the GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut require batteries?
The GE-736 does not require conventional batteries. Salt water serves as its power source, generating electricity through a redox reaction that drives the gear mechanism and makes the astronaut walk. During assembly and startup, users can observe how salt-water power is converted into the kinetic energy needed for movement.
-
How many times can the GE-736 be used with one batch of salt water, and how long does each use last?
The GE-736 stores energy in its salt-water fuel tank. One batch of salt water can support up to 14 uses, and one drop of salt water can provide up to about 30 minutes of play. Before starting, check that the fuel cell, nonwoven fabric, magnesium plate, and connection points are in normal condition to avoid affecting walking performance.
-
What age is the GE-736 suitable for, and approximately how long does assembly take?
The GE-736 is suitable for ages 8 and up. Estimated assembly time is about 1.5 hours, and the product has a one-star difficulty rating. Although it is an entry-level model, the gearbox, fuel cell, tubing, legs, and other structures must be assembled correctly and in sequence for the astronaut to walk properly.
-
What scientific principles can be learned by assembling the GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut?
Assembling and operating the GE-736 introduces two core principles: gear mechanics and redox reactions. After salt-water power generates electricity, the assembled mechanical structure makes the astronaut walk, allowing users to observe the connection between energy conversion, gear transmission, and physical movement.
-
Is the GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut designed and manufactured in Taiwan?
Yes. The GE-736 product page states that the Salt Water Astronaut is designed and manufactured in Taiwan. When purchasing or planning educational activities, refer to the actual product packaging and the version supplied locally. The product page lists Global, Taiwan, and China markets, but this does not mean that sales conditions are identical in every market.
-
Is the GE-736 too difficult for someone assembling a science toy for the first time?
The GE-736 has a one-star difficulty rating and is categorized as an entry-level model for beginners. It is suitable for users aged 8 and up who are ready to try hands-on assembly. Estimated assembly time is about 1.5 hours. Users should still carefully complete the lubrication, gearbox, tubing, fuel cell, and leg assembly steps.
-
What should I check if the assembled GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut does not walk properly?
First, wipe excess salt water from the fuel cell, remove oxidation from the magnesium plate and connector, and make sure the nonwoven fabric inside the fuel cell remains moist. Then check whether the tubing, connection module, fuel cell, legs, and gearbox are assembled correctly. Replace the magnesium plate if it has corroded.
-
How can I improve the walking motion if the GE-736 Salt Water Astronaut does not move smoothly?
If the GE-736 starts but does not walk smoothly, check that every location requiring oil during assembly has been lubricated. Insufficient lubrication can prevent moving parts from operating smoothly. After confirming lubrication, also check that the legs and gearbox are assembled correctly so the mechanical structure does not interfere with movement.
-
What should I do if the piston is stuck because I forgot to apply oil while assembling the GE-736?
Push the stuck piston to the bottom, then carefully pry it out with a flat-head screwdriver. After removing it, apply oil as required by the correct assembly procedure before continuing. If this does not resolve the issue, submit a replacement-parts request through Pro’sKit’s science-toy support service for further assistance.
