3-3/4 True-RMS Auto Range Multimeter

MT-1710N FAQ

Q: Can I switch from auto to manual range on the MT-1710N?
A: Yes, you can switch between auto and manual range using the RANGE button.

  • By default, the meter starts in Auto Range Mode, indicated by “AUTO” on the screen.

  • To switch to Manual Range Mode, short press the RANGE button. The “AUTO” icon will disappear.

  • In Manual Mode, the meter starts from the lowest range. Each short press of the RANGE button will cycle through the next available range.

  • To return to Auto Range Mode, press and hold the RANGE button until the “AUTO” icon reappears.

If you're comparing this meter with a standard multimeter, keep in mind that most basic models calculate voltage using average or peak values, which are only accurate for pure sine waves.

However, in real-world applications—like measuring outputs from thyristor-controlled rectifiers or inverters (non-sine waveforms)—those meters can be significantly inaccurate.

The MT-1710N, like the MT-1707N, is a True RMS multimeter, allowing it to deliver accurate readings even for non-sinusoidal waveforms.
